First Week Living in Denver

Alright, so I’ve lived in Denver for a week. It’s still not “home” (we won’t get our things for at least another 5 days, or more than 3 weeks after we left Pittsburgh, thanks to a moving company error) but I can’t believe how much I’ve fallen in love with this city already.

Being Active

It should be no surprise that one of the first things I’ve done since moving is to play. I’ve been to National Parks, done some runs to get a feel for my neighborhood and even made it to lululemon’s grand opening yoga party. It is so easy to be active here and I can’t wait to do more biking, hiking, camping (first trip planned in two weeks), fishing and other outdoorsy things.

Yoga in Denver is so hard! An hour and a half class after a run left me so sore I can literally hardly lift my coffee mug. I’ve learned they like low planks here. A lot. I’m on the left in pink.

Dogs

Our dogs love it here! There are so many dogs and this town is so dog friendly, I don’t think we could ever move back to Pittsburgh if only for that reason. We found this amazing dog walker that takes them out for hours to the parks and takes these fantastic pictures of them.

Wally is 100% awkward puppy

If this isn’t a happy dog, I don’t know what is.

Food and Fun

We love our neighborhood (Platt Park) and little commercial strip (Old South Pearl). Adore it! It has a great farmer’s market on Sundays (yesterday I got some herbs, tomatoes and squash for my garden), cute boutiques (I’ve been living out of a suitcase for nearly three weeks which I feel justifies the purchase of some appropriate summer clothing), and great food, including the best sushi in town. Throughout the summer there are music festivals and our local yoga studio has yoga in the park. Our neighbors are sweet, our landlords are awesome (they invited me to a rocking housewarming for their new house on Saturday), and any time we leave the house to do something we have a great time. We’ve found great coffee shops (Aviano, Two Rivers), amazing ice cream (Little Man), super brunches (Lucile’s, Snooze), yummy bakeries (Buffalo Doughboy), chic rooftop bars, and of course, breweries.

If I’ve had this much fun in a week I can’t wait for the rest of the year! 🙂
