Living Large in LA
We spent this weekend living large in LA.
Last week I was feeling really under the weather and was worried that I’d need to bail on our long-planned trip to go to LA to celebrate our friend’s birthday. The Boy was super sweet, took great care of me, and with the fear that I’d miss out on some serious fun I HTFU and we hit the road.
With a little help from a steep corporate rate, we were able to stay at the Ritz. It’s always amazing to wake up on a big fluffy pillow in a large soft bed to a text that says The Boy has secured a couch and coffee at the marina and I should come down to start a lazy morning.

Why yes, I will sip coffee and read the New Yorker on a cozy couch looking at Marina Del Ray with my hubby at the Ritz.
The lazy morning was the last bit of lazy and I spent the rest of the trip doing some combination of the following:
-Drinking while watching futbol (not lazy because there were some serious adrenaline-pumping moments!)
-Running around the Ritz taking a “When in Rome” approach. Super late night hot tubbing? When else will we be at the Ritz?! Eucalyptus steam room? When in Rome! Or LA…
-Playing with kiddos. The Boy is 10 years older than me and so are his friends, which means we were the only non-parents. It was a blast hanging out with super cute, super sweet kids and their super awesome parents.
-Seeing what I could of Santa Monica and Venice on my feet. I laced up my shoes and went for as fast a run as the hoards of people and concrete jungle would allow. I covered quite a bit of ground and left feeling like I’d seed a lot for a quick trip.
-Celebrating our friend’s birthday!
We had a cabana at the Viceroy so I drank a lot of champagne, met some seriously cool people, and avoided falling into the pool.

The birthday boy’s mom made temporary tats of his face and some of his more notable tattoos, including an anatomically correct flaming heart with “Mom” L: Original; R: Temporary
It was a super quick but very fun weekend with friends! Also, it was the end to a month where I spent more days on the road than at home. Our travel schedule only lets up a little bit- here’s to more summer adventures!
